Simon Katich and Michael Clarke have put on a 59 run partnership before lunch on day one resurrecting Australia’s innings in the 1st Test Match against South Africa at the Waca. The Proteas got off to a dream start when Makhaya Ntini took the wicket of Matthew Hayden in just the third over and then dismissed the Australian captain, Ricky Ponting, the very next delivery to have Aussies in early trouble at 2 for 14.
Australia was in further trouble when Michael Hussey nicked a ball to AB de Villiers off Dale Steyn to be 3 wickets down in no time.
After some consecutive boundary from Simon Katich off all-rounder Jacques Kallis the Australia batsmen looked more relaxed at the crease he together with Michael Clarke the pair took Australia to 3 for 79 at lunch.
Terrible start, but hopefully Katich and Clarke can push on after lunch.
